Carsten Thiel- EUSA Pharma President
Over his 27-year career stint, Carsten Thiel has accomplished significant milestones as a biotech expert. Thiel has secured a powerful niche for himself, particularly in oncology and rare diseases.
Thiel’s interest in the medical field, to a great extent, stems from his childhood background. Born and bred in Berlin, his parents worked as healthcare service providers. Similarly, Thiel began his exploration in the fascinating sciences.
Carsten Thiel joined University of Marburg, Germany, for his undergraduate studies. Later on, he transferred to the University of Bristol, where he earned a Biochemistry Bachelor’s degree.
Following his graduation, Thiel proceeded to the Max Plank Society for his doctoral studies. This institute is among the world’s top-tier research-intensive institutions. It boasts of renowned alumni, including the philosophical Albert Einsten.
For Thiel, his academic career had gradually taken shape. He undertook immense research in establishing the role of proteins in turning healthy cells cancerous. This research marked his first major leap into oncological issues.
Thiel turned down an offer at Harvard University for his post-doctoral studies. His critical interest was in innovating substantial ways of helping patients.
His pharmaceutical career started at Hoffman-la Roche, a Swiss company. He began as a communications and marketing team member. Within no time, Thiel rose to become the worldwide business leader for the Xenical drug.
Thiel has continued to work for several pharmaceutical firms globally, both upcoming and giant companies. These include Eurofins Scientific, Alexion Pharmaceuticals and Amgen. His unmatched leadership skills have come in handy for smaller brands, including Abeona Therapeutics.
Recently, EUSA Pharma announced Carsten Thiel as President Europe. Carsten joins Dr. Darrel P. Cohen, who’s EUSA Pharma’s appointed head of clinical development. EUSA Pharma is a relatively new biopharmaceutical company, specializing in rare diseases and oncology.
Throughout his career, patients hold firsthand priority for Carsten Thiel. His greatest achievement is developing innovations focused on improving the patients’ health.
