Canadian immigration history details the movement of people into the country that made up modern Canada. The immigration involved indigenous groups that entered into the country by the 20th century. The entry of these groups contributed to the identification of Canadian culture. Up to 2006, Canada received many immigrants from various countries, including the United Kingdom, China, and many other countries. The entry of these immigrants to the country contributed to population growth in Canada up to date. The focus of this paper is on the early immigrants to Canada.

Differences between the groups of immigrants depicted by the eight pictures

Each group had a different reason for its immigration to Canada. Some immigrants arrived in Canada for business purposes, while others arrived as refugees.

The immigrants had different cultural practices. Each group had a diverse culture. Later, the groups interacted, forming a unique identity culture in Canada.

The immigrants arrived at different times and in different numbers. Some groups arrived earlier than others. Some came in large groups while others arrived as individuals.

Similarities between the groups of immigrants depicted by the pictures

The immigrants arrived legally in Canada. The groups of immigrants arrived in Canada following strict guidelines outlined in Canadian immigration policies and trends.

The immigration of the groups involved all genders. As depicted by the pictures, none of the genders was excluded. The immigrants’ age was not also considered as all the groups of immigrants migrated without exclusion of any age.

Identification of the groups represented by each picture

Based on my thinking,

the eight pictures represent immigrants from India, China, the united states, the Philippines, the United Kingdom, Pakistan, South Korea, and Colombia. The pictures’ classification into these groups is based on evaluating waves of immigration as the immigrants arrived in Canada.

Life in Canada in the first decade of the 20th century

By the 20th century, Britain’s North American countries unified into a single and self-governing federation called Canada. By this period, Canada emerged as an industrialized nation. It participated in the world wars, and its participation contributed to earning of independence. By this time, life in Canada was stable. People practiced hunting and fishing. They used simple tools from stones. There were no permanent houses, and people lived in caves. People organized themselves in small groups purposely for security. The source of food by this time was hunting and gathering. Agriculture had not been developed, and people depended on wild fruits for food.

My say on two of the eight different groups of immigration depicted in the photographs about life in Canada

The first and second pictures represent immigration groups who had developed knowledge. Life in Canada by these two groups indicates life full of knowledge as people could now use their skills in the innovation of tools and ideas. Life by this time seemed to be more improved as compared to life in the 20th century. The pictures represent people with abilities in different fields.
