- Bipartisan politics
The United States of America is considered the father host of bipartisan politics. After every four years, the state is subjective to a general election, where the anything apolitical or political narrows down to two-party affairs. That is you either for Democrats or Republicans. Many of the US citizens, especially the elite community argue that this state however much praise it receives from the developing countries has affected the leadership quality in the US. For instance, in the 2016 general elections, presidential candidates were Senator Hillary Clinton and the new POTUS, Donald Trump. The campaign was just based on party affiliation and not manifestoes and political plans each candidate had for the prosperity of the State. Moira Weigel, in his publication in November 2016, he illustrated how the Trump by then capitalized in bipartisan to create a wage between democrat and republican supporters by insinuating that Democrats were more on political correctness rather than considering peoples interest. This strategy made him win the election as the majority of United States citizens voted him just because of his controversies without considering his inabilities and lack of political experience to rule the country. However, the accusation of political correctness on the democrats cannot be substantiated. Though the phrase political correctness has been around since the early 1990s, when it first appeared in the newspaper headlines and it could not be traced to whom or where it came from.
- Climate change
It’s unfortunate that this had to happen in this era, this century, it is well documented in the well documented and defined in the United Nations bill of rights that every individual is entitled to freedom of speech irrespective of age, gender, race or ethnicity. The action by the Alberta government, passing legislation that forces all females below 18 years, prohibiting them from contributing to public events without a license is farfetched. If it is that the government doesn’t fear girls as Jason Kenney said during presses, why would they infringe on their rights?. Generally, the action was just inappropriate. The context here is all about power and dictatorship coupled with discrimination. I tend to think that this law will affect the ongoing global campaigns of female empowerment. In Alberta, how would it be possible to empower those whom you’ve illegalized their participation in public events, or can you boost their esteems to stand up for the available opportunity yet the legislations being made infringe on their rights?. The world is fast changing towards equalization where opportunities will not be defined by gender but rather qualifications. Therefore all humans need to be treated equally irrespective of age or gender.
- Oil economy
The purple milkweed butterflies are one of the rare and endangered species of insects. For continuity of this wildlife, they need protection from authorities against any operations that would compromise their existence. Taiwan is well known to be home of purple milkweed butterflies as it hosts the highest population of milkweed butterflies. The new published by BBC in march 2007, states that over ten thousand butterflies are killed in the month of winter as they migrate from islands to their breeding sites inland. To these effects, Taiwan authorities decided to close major highways (motorist lane) in aid of increasing the chances of survival of these endangered species. This was a bold move preserving the continuity of milkweed butterflies in the region. Other strategies set by the authorities in Taiwan were the installation of protective nets and ultraviolent lights to aid the insects’ migration. I concur with Lee Thay-ming that humans need to co-exist with other animals irrespective of size. Thus call for human protection to wildlife, especially the endangered species. Human needs appreciate the contribution of wildlife into their economy, as most countries rip big in terms of revenue from the tourism sector courtesy of wildlife. Therefore all countries and state authorities need to emulate Taiwan on wildlife protection even if they are as small as a white aunt.
- Knowledge and action
Knowledge has been attributed to many phases such knowledge is key, knowledge is power, and knowledge is key to success and many other phrases. Indeed having being informed is a ceil breaker and eye-opener to those who yearn for it. The greatest worry of the oppressors is the fact that the subjects they oppress having access to information that would enlighten them and better their lives. It is quite sad to see innocent souls suffer in slavery, being subject to the brutal treatment of their masters, however, it’s more saddening to witness individuals lose their aspect of humanity in them. As Fred Douglas puts it in his publication leaning to read and write, the goodhearted mistress gradually changed from being compassionate fellow to a more brutal woman who could not even allow the narrator a chance to have a glance at the newspaper headlines. in this publication, the author emphasizes on the merits of persistence and commitment in obtaining the much need knowledge of how to read and write despite being a slave. Eventually his efforts payoff from his private learning sessions as he runs errands and art of reading a lot. It completely agrees with the notion presented by Fred that indeed knowledge is the equalizer of all and information is power.
