Analysis of President Kennedy’s Inaugural Speech
Part 1.
Describes the speech has been rated in terms of its effectiveness and the speech figures that made this possible. President John slowly delivered most of his speech with rather an unusual tone. He believed that by doing so, it would help his audience to get the message that he is trying to deliver to them. I carried out an analysis of one of the inaugural speeches he delivered in the year 1961.
He mentioned that he was not a catholic candidate but a democratic one who is also catholic by dominion. In these words, he used a method of speech known as Aristotle’s persuasive speech. Apart from using Aristotle, President John also applied other speech tactics like diction and syntax. These tactics rendered him unique from the other politicians; thus, every speech he delivered was keenly listened to (John 1015, 61). An individual who is vying to become the United States President to use such a tactic shows how he is fit to sit on the presidency seat.
In most cases, these speeches carried with them mixed emotions. President John never allowed his emotions to interfere with the way he delivered his speeches. He understood the qualities of a good speech, and mixing personal emotions with speeches was not one. Besides being the youngest President, no one expected him to have such enthusiasm for work. No one thought he would be useful like he did, but in the end, he proved them wrong through his speeches.
I have personally been able to watch quite a number of his speeches in press conferences. He surely did know what the audience wanted to hear. His expertise lay in the delivery of speeches. The topics that he talked about were more concerned with the welfare of American Citizens. He did this by a unique tactic of using old fashioned words. He knew that most people were familiar with it, thus did not want his message to be passed without being understood.
Part 2.
This part will deal with analyzing President Kennedy’s speech. In his inaugural speeches, President Kennedy was addressing the American citizens in the countries national language. His main objective is to tell the people to think of what will make America greater and safer than how America will keep them safe (John 1015, 59). He used his Aristotle methods of speech to bring out the whole sentence making some of these lines to be quoted and used to inspire others.
The President leaves quite an everyday life like any other ordinary person. He has a home, a wife, and kids he spends time with whenever he gets the chance. He was quite a performer, especially in English. His speeches amazed the teacher. He also learned to use complex sentences that had covered both sides, a trick famously known as counterargument.
Most of the time that the inaugural speech is made is during momentous occasion where the people expect to hear from the President himself. It may be during the annual celebration of the American heritage or on other national days. Sometimes, the speech is made by his secretary but on other occasions, he right them himself. He’s written speeches are usually recognizable since Aristotle, syntax, and diction techniques are applied more than once.
Part 3.
Being the final part of analyzing a speech, and here we will concentrate on evaluation. This one is related to personal values like honesty. Others like paying attention, having a positive mindset, evaluation techniques, and deliverance methods will also be considered. In his inaugural speeches, President Kennedy showed how he had prepared himself for the day and what it carries with it through giving a heads up on what to expect from him. He prepared for the speech earlier thus knows what to deliver. Some phrases that sounded like a blame game to him were never used. The speech used to be written in a fast person phrase like the “I.” Encouraging words like, “I Believe…” were used in the speech to avoid causing negative energy to the crowd.
Besides having the body of a small guy still growing, President Kennedy’s speeches made him built a name. The speeches had positive energy towards the people since it encouraged to support, responsibility, and courage. With the energy that the audience got from their President, they act on it to encourage the President to continue having their backs. The speeches were mixed, and each had a different message with the same goal, to gain popularism. But at the end of the day, the President goes home sure that the delivered speech has boosted an astonishing number of self-esteem to his followers.
In conclusion, President Kennedy made quite a several inaugural speeches. Each speech that he presented had a specific target audience and a specific message. He added in some speech techniques, like Aristotle, he used these methods to capture the attention of his people and their respect.
