American community
I belong to the American community. I am born of American parents, raised in America, and have my home in America. As a part of this community, I am proud of the values and principles that bind us together in the spirit of progress and patriotism. We believe that every American is a free man, free to make his decisions, and express himself openly. Assertiveness and directness are some of the values we are proud of as a community. Equality eliminates segregation and division among us since we believe that everyone has an equal chance to do the things they want to do.
I feel a deep sense of belonging as part of the American community. I am patriotic to our country and committed to the unity of my fellow Americans. Since I was born, I have co-existed among people from different races and backgrounds but have never loved to belong to any other community. I am an American by blood and love. I have also heard many things said about Americans, both good and bad. I take the good and embrace it and avoid the bad.
Numerous challenges are facing Americans in the world. At home, we find identity ad value, but we are treated as foreigners, avoided, and segregated once outside our borders. We are given the name “Gringos”. To a Mexican, the name “Gringo” or “Gringa” is equated to an outcast. As Americans, we are driven by the spirit of togetherness both at home and outside. We want to spread the love to all other communities regardless of their faith or ethnicity. We would want to be treated fairly and respectfully.
