SUBJECT: Addressing the Press for the USACE
I’m afraid I have to disagree with the argument “the error in president Theodore Roosevelt’s Panama policy lay not in the goals he sought, but in the means, he chose to achieve them.” this is because hos efforts of building the Panama Canal were not necessarily exploitative as well as ultimately detrimental to the atmosphere of politics within the Western hemisphere. As a public officer for the US Army Corps of Engineers (USACE), I take this opportunity to explain our evolution, which has been focused on mirroring the nation that we serve. We have come across an enduring theme of a long-time history of the US Army Corps of Engineers. With the technological developments, the USACE has been able to embrace it. Therefore, this has reflected the advances in the systems and the facilities that it has constructed to meet the challenges facing the American people.
Whether the Americans face a natural disaster or a realigning military infrastructure, the USACE has stood in the front line since its build to order. Through the expertise efforts as well as the dedication of our Engineers, the American’s work and effort to complete the Panama Canal project succeeded as opposed to the one for done by the French (Tegler, 2020). However, with the help of the USACE, the establishment of the Panama Canal came to succeed with the implementation of the new plans in President Theodore’s plan, such as the creation of dams, locks, and concrete, which were the things our engineers were used to.
In conclusion, the USACE continues to serve in all critical capacities in civilian life and military life. We are also focused on removing toxic waste from the US’s former military sites to ensure the American people are safe. Since the 1950s, USACE has been serving a diplomatic and other foreign aid mission as engineering leads to infrastructure projects within the US and worldwide.
