  1. a) Define the Zionist movement, which stated that Jewish people needed their own homeland. Summarize how this took place. ( 150 – 200 )

According to …the Zionist movement refers to the national movement that constituted the Jewish population that supported the re-establishment of a Jewish homeland in the territory. This territory was referred to as the historic land of Israel. The main goal of this movement was to support the creation of a Jewish national state in Palestine. The origin of Zionist movement can be traced from 1897, and it is considered to have been founded by Theodor Herzi. Nevertheless, the history of this movement began earlier and is associated with Jewish and Judaism history.

Prior to the Holocaust, the main agenda of the movement was the introduction of a Jewish national entity and cultural home in Palestine by enabling the migration of Jewish. After the Holocaust, the agenda of the movement changed, and they started supporting the introduction of a Jewish state, where Jewish population could be the majority, accomplishing their objectives with the formation of Israel in 1948. Since this agenda was attained, the relevance of the Zionist movement as an organization has faded, as the Israel state has become stronger.

Nevertheless, the Zionist organization has consistently performed its obligations of supporting Israel, assisting persecuted Jews and encouraging Jews to migrate to Israel. It is important to note that many Israel political parties line themselves with this movement, though their political agendas are no longer based within the Zionist movement. The success of this organization is a clear indication that the percentage of the global Jews who live in Israel has constantly grown over the years and currently approximately forty percent of the World’s Jews reside in Israel.

If you had to draft the main points for an Israeli-Palestinian peace agreement, what recurring problems between the Israelis and Palestinians would you try to rectify to bring an end to this costly, 70-year conflict?

Israel recognition- the ideas that Israelites want to have a recognized territory has resulted in perpetual conflict. In 1967, after another conflict, Israelites settled in this Palestine region, and their troops remained there for many years. The main reason for prolonged stay in this region was the hope that they might give out the land they won for Arab nations acknowledging Israel’s rights to live and an end to the conflict. To end the fight in this regard would be to remove the Israelites from this area and ask the international community to intervene in showing the boundaries between the Israelite land and the Palestine territory.

Life in Gaza-the fact that the life in Gaza is terrible for approximately 1.5 million Palestinians has made the fight to escalate without any hope to end. Remember that Israel controls all the entries and exits crossing into Israel including the coastline. Moreover, there is no functional airport because access is restricted. The best solution to this problem is to allow the Gaza residents (Palestinians) to have control of their region and permit them access to the airport so that they can continue with their daily activities. Doing so may improve the livelihood in these regions.

The increased number of Palestinians refugees- this factor is as well making this fight to reoccur. From early 1948 to present, the number of refugees forced to live their homes has increased. Precisely, over 4.6 million residents have immigrated to their neighboring countries and living there as refugees. The best remedy for this problem would be to bring back this population to their regions and ensure there are given freedom to participate as citizens of the Gaza region.
