Operational Excellence

Operational excellence is the accomplishment of business’ short and long-term strategies consistently and steadily than the competition. Operational excellence is measured by the results of the business in achieving the said strategies.

Factors involved in achieving Operational excellence

External and internal environmental factors can achieve operational excellence in the business. Leadership styles in the organization are the key component in achieving operational excellence Sriyakul, Singsa, Sutduean, and Jermsittiparsert, (2019). Leadership fosters change and ensures stability in operational excellence. The transformational leadership aids operational excellence when all the workers are informed and incorporated in operation to achieve this important aim of the organization; this is contrary to transactional behavior.

Organizational culture is another important aspect of operational excellence. It refers to the shared assumptions, beliefs, and values, which is reflected in organizational practices and objectives; it also helps organizational members understand the organizational function while providing the organization’s norms of behavior (Carvalho et al. 2019). The culture eases the employees’ understanding and how best they can do or react to the organizational long and short-term objectives that aid operational excellence. Therefore, it is an important factor in the organization, and it will affect the organizational performance because of the dictation of behavior of people at personal levels and as a group in the organization.

Human resources practices are as well important assets in the operational excellence of the organization. The human resource services provide a rare and unique source of competitive advantage that can be maintained by the skills and competencies of the persons employed through the department.

Every employee in the organization is responsible for operational excellence. Operational excellence is achieved through hard work and commitment to achieve it at the required time stipulated in the organization’s objective (Bellm, 2015). Operational excellence is important because it creates a competitive advantage over other organizations in the same industry.
