The reading response due in the second week will cover postmodern culture
Response to culture and civilization
Good observation! Technology advances have universally conditioned the modern building and created an urban form of civilization which is extremely difficult. Traditionally, architecture was imposed by automotive distribution and land speculation to limit urban designs. Nowadays, architecture has changed with high technology taking control over production and providing compensatory facades. Times have changed because traditionally, the technology used to maintain the interplay between civilization and culture. Modern technology has transformed the metropolitan centres, and megalopolitan development has been in the rise. However, former architecture has increased the realization of the value of the land. The typical downtowns with residential stock and industries have now transformed into civilization that is not influenced by culture. The development has taken place, and culture has lost meaning. Urban centres have developed, and diversity has increased making culture lose meaning. Civilization has taken over the culture, and meaning has generated the word meaningless with culture losing its value.
Response to the rise and fall of the Avant-Garde
Excellent! Avant-Garde culture has been in the rise assuming different roles like facilitating modernization process, acting like a liberating form but receiving opposition from bourgeois culture. Modernization keeps taking place as Gothic Revival, and Arts-and-crafts take up a negative attitude towards the division of labour with technology advancing, and utilitarianism. Neoplasticism and constructivism are formed, and avant-garde culture identifies itself with the process of modernization. However, with time insecurity of urbanized masses caused war and economic depression and interests of both monopoly and state capitalism were divorced from the drives of cultural modernization with Avant-Grande founding a rock on the civil-war.
Now, protagonists of socio-cultural modernization recommend strategic withdrawal from socio-cultural modernization because of the struggle that exists between socialism and capitalism. Adapting Avant-Garde culture will force the world to entertain a liberating culture that would break the history of bourgeois repression. Nowadays socialism preserves whatever culture we are living in right now. Modernization can no longer be identified as liberating because the mass culture has dominated the media industry, and trajectory modernization will only result in a nuclear war.
Response to critical regionalism and world culture
Good observation! Regionalism has taken control over most countries, and it now upholds both the individual and local architectonic features against the abstract features. However, much regionalism has ambiguity; it also associates with movements of reformation and liberation. Critical Regionalism has positively impacted universal civilization that depends upon maintaining acute self-consciousness at a high level. It highly finds its inspiration from things like range and quality of light. Populism only seeks to evoke the sublimation of a desire for direct experience through information. Critical regionalism now acts as the vehicle of universal civilization, and all human beings can now practice modern regionalism. It also serves as the bearer of world culture, which drives modern civilization. Opposed regionalism of Restriction manifests the region in tune with the thought of emerging time. The manifestation is called regional because it has only occurred in one place. One part can develop ideas, accept them, but imagination intelligence is necessary for both of them. New England has got European Modernization because their regionalism has been reduced to a restrictions collection.
