Qualitative Research Design
Qualitative research design relates to a study that involves the collection and analysis of various non-numerical data. It helps gather in-depth insights into how a particular problem can be addressed or generate ideas on how a particular phenomenon can be improved (Babbie, 2017). The article’s research question is; what are the coast guard measures and policies that need to be developed to help enhance the preparedness to handle unpredictable events? The article hypothesizes that if vibrant and effective coast guard policies are developed and implemented, the ability to handle unpredictable events will be effective and well informed. The article has adopted the narrative qualitative research approach which aims to carry out a series of events, including in-depth interviews on the staff members, reviewing the existing documents on the coast Guard policy, and developing appropriate themes on complex theories to provide a holistic approach to improving the organization’s preparedness (Sanial, 2014). The research question stated above is specific, and therefore the research is tailored towards ensuring only all-inclusive and robust measures are developed. The data collected through the research approach was used as a foundation and framework for policy development. The researcher would brainstorm and think within the framework to ensure the question was addressed well.
The alignment between the theoretical framework, problem, purpose, questions, and design is effective. It begins with briefing the readers that the coast guard organization policy is not enough to handle unpredictable events. That was the question to be addressed. The question is supported by explaining the problem statement, which tells the readers why the study is necessary, and the question needs to be answered, which aligns the problem with the need to carry out the research. The purpose of the study is to develop robust measures. It aligns itself with the study as it applies the central question to develop the policies. The theoretical framework gives the key variables that influence the issue under review, thus helping the researchers to know the issues and circumstances to monitor more in the study (Burkholder et al., 2020). It aligns itself with other elements because it uses the question and purpose to seek relevant information regarding the development of effective cost guard policies. The narrative design is promoted by all the factors endorsed in the research, thus bringing the coherence and aligning various activities towards achieving the study’s multiple goals and aims.
