Professional Autobiography
I am twenty-four old (student name) born in Brooklyn, New York. I attended school in Cuny city tech, where I attained a distinction. I schooled further and attained my human services bachelor’s degree.
I do security, but employment related to this could be me doing community services like volunteering in my church called Hebron SDA to give food to the homeless on Saturdays. Several factors influenced me to choose and engage in this profession; many homeless people in my city and region, Brooklyn, New York. I have also been brought up by parents who were so kind and liked to help people, and it would be my pleasure to continue what my parents started. Moreover, in this profession, an individual is driven to assist the organization, and people perform at an optimal level, which intrigues me to do beyond helping others. I attained a bachelor’s degree, which gave me a set of skills and an array of knowledge to understand people, both as a group and individual. I am familiar with human development and how society and culture influence economic structure on human behavior and impact behavior. Having much of this knowledge draws me close to this profession and motivates me to do it with a lot of passion and to my fullest.
Kindness is one of my traits that motives me in this profession. I am a kind, hearted person, whereby I tend to feel the same pain when I see a person suffering. I am also friendly to any person I meet. Am active in listening to people’s problem and reason with them to attain a successful solution to a particular situation. I have the ability and knowledge to advise them on safer ways to deal with problems. My parents enhanced my ability to bond with people as they could be friends to them each time they meet new people. This gives me the ability to deal with different people regularly and also bond with them. Being sensible and being able to emphasize with the pain of those in an adverse situation is humanity. I also understand the culture in my region and its various strengths and weaknesses as I used to do the same with my parents at my tender age. I have also worked as a groundsman in an orphanage, and this gave me the experience to deal with people and exposed me to an environment with needy people.
I want to help the homeless like the street people. Interacting with these people will give the required life experience. This client population has good relations with the people they meet, and they treat each other as sisters and brothers. They are also working hard through thick and thin to make ends meet. They have several problems; for instance, most of them can go a day without taking any meal. Many of them have no families, so they lack the parental love needed by human beings. They have no place to call home; instead, they spend their nights on corridors, which is not secure. This kind of client population has strengths that motivate me to work with them. They are so social and open-hearted that they can share their problem with anyone they meet. They also have diverse talents and are determined to nurture them and show their talent to the world. The skills required for this population is the ability to listen to their problems. Different sources to acquire food are essential for them, and additional ways to nurture their talents. Beyond that, I need to make a legacy as my parents in helping these people and positively impacting their lives. The human services for this client population are giving medical care, including counseling, to reduce mental illnesses and provide food and shelter to them. The skills which am developing are listening skills to share with them and thinking critically to handle their problems.
In ten years, I need my career to be another level. In ten years, I need to have changed these people’s lives through the resources I have and donations from the organization and other good people. I also dream of constructing a children’s home for homeless children to be provided with basic requirements like food, shelter, and education. In ten years should have developed in my skills, and I believe I will be offering more than my best services to the population.
My thoughts about human service are self-motivated feelings and passion from a person’s inner body. This profession’s main objective is meeting human beings’ needs through an interdisciplinary knowledge base, maintaining a commitment to improving the service population’s overall quality of life, and remediation of problems. Its main aim is to promote and enhance the service delivery system by improving accountability, accessibility, and coordination among agencies and professionals in service delivery.
