Legalization of Marijuana in the US
Legalizing marijuana in the US by the United States government is for recreational and medical use (McGinty et al. 2016). It makes it easier for people to use it occasionally from not hiding while using it (Volkow et al. 2014). It has caused the society and the local youths more problems than the main purpose of its legalization in the states. It has led to different activities where youths and adults get themselves without their consent and interfere with their daily activities and lives. Marijuana should not be legalized in the US because it causes addiction, poor thinking, and early deaths.
Marijuana causes addiction to most youths hence affecting their overall health. Commonly it is the most abused substance in the US because it is illicit. It addiction has caused many problems in society where people cannot do anything beneficial to society because they depend on it to judge (Filbeyet al 2014). They cannot work in places requiring someone to take long hours; they will not deliver as required in the organization because they will not have time to use marijuana to work effectively.
Furthermore, it makes most people think poorly before making a useful judgment in society (Filbey et al. 2014). People have suffered due to the legalization of marijuana, for example, when taking instructions of leaders in the organization who are using marijuana. The poor thinking from the leaders in an organization after using marijuana will mislead every member and cause an organization’s profitability or workability (McGinty et al. 2016). Poor thinking leads to poor decisions and lowers the development and the rate of innovations. The thinking might get distorted, a delayed reaction to something happening around and affect brain development due to the slow development of brain organs.
Lastly, the legalization of marijuana has led to many early deaths in the United States, where many youths mostly involve themselves in the use of marijuana. Some early deaths are caused by a lack of reading instructions or observing the appropriate use of marijuana and parents (Volkow, Nora D., et al. 2014). Some parents become abusive and violent after using it, and they start unnecessary fights, which leads to injuries and deaths, which can be easily be avoided and control. The deaths sometimes are caused by the abused atmosphere by the smokers releasing excess smoke; mostly, the children are affected because they passively inhale the smoke, and they start developing breathing difficulties.
The use and legalization of marijuana have caused the United States more problems than normal society’s normal problems. While using marijuana, the youths should have someone around them who knows how it should be used appropriately and effectively. There must be proper awareness and education on the use of marijuana before its legalization; these will help people know its actual amount to avoid overdosing and excessive usage. Marijuana was legalized for adults, but it has greatly affected young people’s lives, and the young are active people using it in their daily lives activities (McGinty et al. 2016).
