Induction Programme
An induction programme is a process used within an organization to welcome new employees to the company and prepare them for their new role. It helps in the integration of employees into the organization.
The induction programme should have the following essential parts:
Welcoming the employees to the organization.
It should begin with a welcome to the organization by giving context to the organization as a whole.
It should give extra attention to the sections on organization values and current organizational goals.
These two sections relate to employee behaviors, making it crucial right from the beginning.
Detailing the working spirit in the organization
It should give context to the employee’s day to day routines. Start with a session or module on-site access, followed by a section or module from the Human Resource team covering the common Human Resource issues and processes.
There should then be a series of team introductions introduced to the new employees, such as Site access procedures, phone access, email access, Human Resource introduction, payroll, sick leave, holiday approvals, performance reviews, and team introductions.
Detailing how to stay safe at the organization
It should include a work health and safety session or module. Do not assume your new employees have been previously trained on staying safe. By providing training at the employee induction level, your organization helps demonstrate its duty of care to its employees.
