A mission statement allows one to define what values of success a person wants, and which articulates most is what it adds to your profession. Additionally, it helps guide the professional decisions a person makes, and it ensures that they are in hand with what individual goals articulate. Therefore, nurses are not left out in the articulation of mission statements. As a nurse, the provision of essential quality cares both to patients and their kin for them in their society. Therefore, a good nurse should have a mission statement for her to provide enough care to their patients, which allows them to have honesty and integrity and respect the individual cultures and choices.
Registered nurses’ mission is to provide competent care to their patients. Therefore, as a nurse, my job is to perform my duties with great knowledgeability, proficiency, and apply leadership skills to deal with the responsibilities. By following the code of ethics of a registered nurse, my mission is to provide compassionate care to all the patients despite their identity, race, or nationality to curb severe health outcomes. Therefore, I have inquired about a caring attitude’s skill, as this brings appreciation to patients. Consequently, I will give them a safe environment and give them moral support, thus ensuring that my code of ethics is implemented to provide my quality standards to my patients.
I will also appreciate the patient’s ethical parameters to understand myself, my colleagues, the community, and the health consumer responsibilities and the expectations in my nursing profession (ANMC, 2008). Hence as a nurse, I will ensure that I will develop the efficient, practical skills which will guide me in the identification of the predetermined factors when caring for a patient (Newton & McKenna, 2009)
In conclusion, a professional mission statement as a nurse should help me in my professional evaluation and review my capabilities of providing competent services in my patients’ caring. Therefore, this will contribute to the development of my career with my colleague workers and other health professionals.
