Philosophy
Beliefs about Patient Care
I believe that every human being has the right to quality health care. In this regard, I would like world leaders to meet and make a declaration that no person should be denied health services because of a lack of funds. After that, they should direct the World Bank to take over all medical bills of poor people. The move will streamline the health sector and enable hundreds of millions of low earners to receive much-needed treatment at no cost. All patients that have been prevented from leaving hospitals due to huge bills should be released with immediate effect. Actually, such bills should be discarded or paid by the authorities. Healthcare is a right: it is not a favor. Thus, nobody should be compelled to pay if they are not in a position to do so.
I believe that medical workers should sacrifice everything about themselves to save the life of a patient. For instance, a surgeon should skip a birthday party if an emergency occurs when they should have personal time. Their phones should always be on to respond to distress calls within the shortest time possible. Heal care workers should be selfless in everything they do.
Value of Evidence-Based Care
I consider evidence-based care as the best form of treatment. As such, it brings to the table the views of important stakeholders in the medical fraternity. In this case, the treatment is usually an integration of scientific research evidence, patient’s preferences, and clinical expertise. The combination of these aspects leads to superb outcomes. Majority of patients who receive this treatment improve health within a short period. Thus, experts have recommended an international roll-out of evidence-based care. They argue that patients will benefit a lot if such a thing happens.
Evidence-based practice ensures that nurses have the required scientific research to make good decisions. In this regard, nurses stay updated about the emerging issues in medicine and new protocols about patient care. The patient’s chances of recovery are highly boosted as the nurse will have to first search for a similar case and utilize the treatment method used in the case. Patients’ views are also given a priority, which creates a good relationship among the people involved in the treatment process.
I believe nurses should always opt for evidence-based care whenever given a chance to develop treatment plans. The quality of health will increase tremendously if the plan mentioned above is implemented.
Theory and Competences
Good leadership, being independent, and researching are the most important competencies in my practice. In the future, I will be assigned a team that I am supposed to work closely with to provide quality care to patients. At this juncture, I will be required to show leadership and lead them in the right direction. Therefore, I am working hard towards acquiring essential leadership skills that I will utilize in the days to come. I want to be a person who will be motivating colleagues and find solutions to the challenges that will be faced. Moreover, I will be leading by example in all aspects.
Another important attribute is that I am self-driven, and I usually work very well under minimal supervision. This is a culture I wish to introduce to my workmates. My team will always be first on the list in terms of completing the tasks assigned. If there will be a ranking, we will be mostly appearing on top. My dedication towards work is outstanding.
I believe in constantly improving my skills through research. Thus, I will be dedicating some hours every week to research the current trends in nursing. I will make sure that I am knowledgeable in all areas. This will improve my handling of patients, as I will be applying evidence-based care.
Vision
My practice as a nurse will be unique. In the first six months, I will emerge as the best nurse in the country. Hospitals will be fighting for my services. My competency level will be so high that the president will notice. I see myself being invited to the president’s place to be awarded for the good work. I will be treating patients with the utmost care, and I will be professional in everything I do. Nursing is my passion; thus, I will enjoy rendering my services at all times.
