For people that have an urge to lose weight, diet supplements seem like a magical solution. Most of these products are not scientifically proven. Diet supplements manufacturers make extravagant promises of the result of their products. Many of the diet supplements are dangerous and aren’t regulated by the U.S Food and Drug Administration. The weight loss supplements tend to speed up the metabolic rate and keep the body from absorbing fat in the foods taken.

Slow metabolic rate is rarely the cause of excess weight gain. The metabolic rate is the process in which the body converts food and water taken into energy. On rare occasions, does weight gain result from a slow metabolic rate but consumption of more calories than the body burns. Factors such as genetic makeup, diet composition, physical activity, and lifestyle result in weight gain.

Diet supplements are dangerous because they cause harmful side effects such as increased heart rate, high blood pressure, diarrhea, rectal bleeding, and kidney problems. The impact of speeding up the metabolic rate can increase heart rate hence increasing blood pressure. The best way to lose weight is by having a healthy eating plan, reduce calorie intake, reduce stress, and exercise regularly. A healthy eating plan is useful when taking natural products that help in weight loss. High protein diets are likely to result in weight loss. They are low in carbohydrates and high in fat. There are advantages in eating a high amount of calories in protein than carbohydrates; a person feels fuller taking fewer calories after eating proteins than they do after taking carbohydrates. It takes more energy to metabolize and store protein than other nutrients. High protein diets improve lipid profiles that help to prevent heart diseases and diabetes.
