How Kevin Plank’s Under Armour Became a Success
If you love athletics or you are an athlete, you have heard of under Armor. This is a clothing line that was established by Kevin Plank. He began this way back in the late 90s in his mother’s basement. The idea behind this came after Kevin got tired of always getting drenched in sweat every time he was working out. He, therefore, decided to come with a shirt that would absorb the sweat. He created this, and he was happy with the shirt and named him Under Armor.
He loved sports even at a young age. He joined Maryland University, where he got a bachelor’s and masters of Arts in Business. After beginning under Armour, Kevin plank made shirts for the team and told the colleagues to spread the word. The team did as request and passed on their samples to other teammates.
His company began to take initial form back in 1996. He sold 500 garments and earned about $17,000 of revenue. He later on, he decided to get into advertising back in 1999. He paid $25,000 for his company to feature on the ESPN Magazine. This was a good move for him as the business skyrocketed. He made over a one-million-dollar sale. Teams from all over the country began placing their orders.
He used his skills and experience to make his company better. Five years down the line, the company had made about $1billion of profit. Under Armour became a public company and had, at the time, doubled its worth. Trading for the company during that year was never the same for them.
In 2015, he bought health and fitness applications that would help grow a digital health platform. This was a move that would bring competition to the international apps.
Kevin plank has been the president of this company ever it was founded. He, however, stepped down from his position to focus on greater heights.
