Nursing Case

  1. Based on the 42-year patient’s available information, the kind of information I will gather includes his chief complaint, his past medical history, social history, the history of his present illness, his account of unmanaged diabetes, and hypertension.
  2. I will categorize the patient’s diseases based on physiological classifications. I will first consider his functional derangement caused by the gangrenous wound in his foot, followed by unmanaged diabetes, which also requires special attention (Eriksen, 2017). In the classification, I will also include the designation of the respiratory disease, which might be caused by prolonged smoking. Later, I will assist the patient in addressing the issues of hypertension.
  3. Some of the questions that I will ask myself about this patient is when he is aware his health is at risk because of the type of illnesses he has? Will, he corporate in the process of health care? Because he doesn’t seem to care for his health and, lastly, if the health care requires some special medical procedures, will he be able to cater to them?
  4. The patient seems to display the dependent stage of illness behavior because he states he does not have money. Still, he’s got his health, meaning that he is a dependable patient, and the main reason he visited the healthcare facility if for a gangrenous wound on his foot and nothing else.
  5. To promote the patient’s health, I will engage the patient in a health promotion program that aims to empower the patient to choose healthy behaviors and make changes in his life. Such as he should stop smoking and taking alcohol (Eriksen, 2017). This will reduce the risk of developing respiratory diseases and liver diseases. And it will also boost her health conditions.
  6. Some of the factors that might predict health behaviors are outcome expectancy and self-efficacy (Mason & O’Grady, 2020). For outcome expectancy, a patient feels as if he/she will be healthier due to his/her Behaviour. For self-efficacy, a patient believes in his/her ability to carry out preventable behaviors.
