A CASE OF PIPELINE AREA-EMBAKASI

Objectives of the study

To determine how the rapid housing development has affected the security of Pipeline in Embakasi

To identify the measures that can be put in place to counter and curb the effects of rapid housing on the security of the areas.

Concept

Kenyans have for a long time opted to invest their money in durable assets such as houses. This is due to the fact its returns are sustainable and quite good. However, the uncontrolled construction of houses has come with its challenges which the resident has to grapple with every daily. One of the worst-hit sections is the security of the area; a case in point being Pipeline. The area has ended up being super congested with a highly dense population making the residents vulnerable to robbery and thuggery among other things. The questions at hand then are; to what extent has the security been compromised by the excess houses in a small area? What are some of the viable solutions that can be employed in an attempt to restore security and safety in the area?
