Carbon dioxide is a pollutant to environment.

Natural and human activities such as decomposition, ocean release, industrialization, deforestation as well as the burning of fossil fuels like coal, oil and natural gas are the main sauces of carbon dioxide gas. It, therefore, shows us that carbon dioxide emission mainly affects human beings, animals, and soil through the acidic rain. Carbon dioxide, therefore, being a normal constituent of air is not harmful; however, it is considered dangerous when excess and can affect environment tremendously.

The release of carbon dioxide in the air affects human health by displacing oxygen in the atmosphere. Breathing, therefore, becomes difficult as carbon dioxide levels increases. Continue inhalation of carbon dioxide causes respiratory problems such as asthma, dry coughs, headaches and throat irritations.

Acid rains, formed as a result of the surplus in nitric and sulfuric acids, produced by industrial combustion are also a significant threat to the environment. This process, therefore, results in water and soil pollution. These plants exposed to carbon dioxide are consequently destructed due to increased acidity in the soil, thus, affects photosynthesis slowing plant growth, or even withering.

Aquatic animals are also exposed to danger due to increase in the acidity character in water bodies. Eggs of specific organisms (e.g., fish) might be stopped from hatching. Changes in population ratios and affects their ecosystem.

Human beings, animals and plants being the most affected as a result of Carbon dioxide then a lot need to be observed to combat the situation. Through government commitments, strict laws to be enacted to control releasing of gases that forms carbon dioxide.
