Teens are the most connected people to a social media platform in society. They either use traditional or modern media in their today lives. Media can impact a child positively or negatively according to how he uses it. First, there are negative impacts offered by media platforms such as pornography, whereby through watching it, teenagers want to try whatever they see and prove it real(Ward et al., 2016). Through this, they end up getting early pregnancies and early marriages where they drop out of school. Secondly, teens, especially those in boarding schools, engage in lesbianism and gay(Vaterlaus et al.,2018). This mostly happens when they recall movies they had watched, and immediately they get the desire for sex, yet they are not together with their partners, they will be forced to lesbianism and gays. Next, teenagers get to know about contraceptives at an early age. However, they misuse them due to lack of knowledge, whereby some take them in excess, which damages their reproductive system where they end up with no child during their adult lives.
On the other hand, the social media platform offers positive impacts by installing new ideas and lifestyles among teenagers. Through reading magazines, listening to radios, and watching televisions, some programs offer a modern lifestyle of how to stay with their opposite-sex partners. Also, they get an idea of how to handle those who ask for sexual favors. Some social media platform offers individual profiles for those who were misled by this platform, and the desire to share stories with teenagers on how to be careful when tackling their relationships(Radovic et al. .et al., 2017). Use of condom is a positive impact whereby will be prevented from STIs and also early pregnancies.
Gay and lesbians use the internet to encourage each other and offer support and encouragement among themselves. It is high time to establish new social media with sex education to guide the teens into healthy sex maturity where they will be guided on how to go along with their relationships. The creation of awareness on social media platforms is another way of learning sexual health and will know what is essential for them in social media and what is not. Both tradition and modern media can positively or negatively impact and can still be used to enforce health sex (Reed, Tolman & Ward, 2017).
