Character Analysis
Hey everyone! In the course of reading this novel to the far we have, a lot has developed. This include characters and different themes. At first we find the narrator not being fond of Tim. We have no idea why and this leaves us with suspense and the zeal to read more to understand better. Afterwards, we come to see Tim as a selfish person. He wants to benefit from the business without putting efforts on it. All he does is to collect money from the shop demanding an equal share. His ignorant character is evident as the story continues. He should understand that if he is not investing his time in the business he as well should not collect an equal share of the profits. Ellan, the narrator’s love character has developed with the chapters. Since they started the marriage conflict, quite a lot has changed in their marriage and hence their characters. We see their relationship taking another direction. They are more of partners in business than lovers. Their focus now is to pay off the debt they have with David. The narrator is now fond to the doctor. He opens up to the doctor and this is good progress in their relationship. He tells him of why he had held on to the belongings and what value they had to him. And this answers most of our questions as readers. Also we see the narrator as one who is caring to his mother. He protects her from knowing that which could hurt her. He definitely her favorite.
I am having a great experience reading this novel. The book has not only given me an opportunity to be a comprehending reader but also a writer. Apart from the two stories we have written, I have been able to write several of my own. This book in cooperates a lot figures of speech and great plotting. It involves suspense that just leaves you no choice but to finish the novel. Also the author is so creative. This is evident in that the ending of this novel is something I didn’t see coming. I thought though that the theme of reconciliation will be evident at the end. I thought it would be obvious that Adam reconciles with the daughters now that they are mature enough but he dies without getting the chance. On personal opinion, he deserved to be given a second chance. He was just a human who made a mistake. Also I feel like the organization of the novel is great, no character or theme is left without a great ending. An ending of each character is seen and all the elements. There are really no miss outs.
