Experience is always the best teacher, and it is evident in this case. The
prompt asks the lessons that can be learn
ed from the special needs history internationally. Evidence shows that historically special needs individuals have been segregated. In the early 20th century, most people with disabilities in countries like America had not been included in public schools. This meant that the government had not recognized their needs and thus lacked the appropriate investment. This meant that public schools could not handle such students.
The lesson to be learned here is based on inclusion. Individuals in the field of special education
need to invest in such resources. Technology is ever-changing, and a considerable part of this needs to be concentrated on individuals with special needs. When such individuals’ lives are made more accessible, history will go down to inspire others. Inclusion is a means of ensuring that people with disabilities into all educational activities. This means that equity needs to play an essential part in the lesson learned through history. It becomes essential to include outstanding need students
in an environment that will allow them to thrive.
The Special Needs Fields needs to push for quality education for these students. Two approaches can be achieved. The first one is ensuring that the schools are restructured so that special needs students will fit in. As mentioned above, this means that the sector needs to enjoy colossal investment. This investment equi
ps the teachers and students with the necessary skills to handle special needs students. The other way is through ensuring that the schools have prospered resources to provide a good learning experience for such students.
During the early development of special educational needs in the U.K, an essential lesson can be grasped. The U.K had a flexible approach to the idea of special needs education. This meant that they did not define precisely what special needs is. This, however, did not mean that they did not define what special needs education is. They identified that special needs students had a certain degree of difficulty when learning. Hence, special needs education can identify an essential factor in how the U.K approached their early development of the special needs education.
The reason why the U.K approached their special needs program with incredible flexibility was based on two things. The first one is to ensure that the whole process is fast and not faced with a lot of bureaucracy. This hence means that the decision made was a lot faster, allowing the students to get help without having to jump many hurdles. This is what the special needs field needs to adopt today and in the future. The other rea
son is ensuring that the student does not face stigma. In today’s world, social media is an integral part of students’ lives. Giving students titles based on their disabilities hence exposes them to a lot of stigmas. The student may not be comfortable being identified with his or her disability. Giving them titles at school is hence a horrible idea, and the approach made by the U.K should be implemented worldwide.
There are two things that I have grasped from the
history of special needs internationally. These two essential items will help expound my mind and better understand this critical sector now and in the future. The first item is the inclusion
of such students now and in the future. Inclusion in making such individuals feel loved, cared for, and adored as the other students. The quest for quality education for such students has been championed for a century, and up to now, the efforts can still be seen. I would ensure that the students live in everyday life and include them in the vast online platforms. The other way is to ensure that the problem of stigmatization is scrapped. The biggest issue facing special needs students
