Introduction

Healthcare providers should be able to acknowledge the religion of their patients and also be able to understand where they have come from. This way, they can interact freely with the patients, and it even becomes more comfortable when they treat them. By understanding the religion of the patient, the health providers can show respect to them and are also aware of what was the cause of the disease. In this case, the language barrier can lead to complications of the religious status of the patients.

Having a clear understanding of what language the patient is speaking, then it becomes more comfortable in dealing with the patient (Lujan J. 2010). Communicating effectively between the healthcare provider and the patients, helps them understand each other and the healthcare provider can know what the cause of the disease is and will give an appropriate recommendation. Effective communication will help the patient understand what is required of her in taking care of her health.

Having an interpreter at the healthcare facility is a significant strategy that should be implemented in promoting health education. The interpreter should be the same age and gender as the patient. This helps in creating a good relationship which allows the patient to be open. This is very important as it makes the healthcare provider make the appropriate recommendation and the patient can understand clearly what is expected of her.

In conclusion, understanding the background of the patient leads in creating a good relationship that will help in giving the best recommendations for the patient. The patient ends up being satisfied with the services offered. Communication is very fundamental when it comes to patient and healthcare provider relationship.
