Organizational Background
Acer Inc. is a company in the technology industry that produces and distributes electronic products all over the world. Some of the leading products from the organization are PCs for laptops and desktops. Acer Inc. has headquarters in Xizhi, New Taipei City, in China. The business was started by Stan and Carolyn in 1976 whose founding pillar was the development of the Electronic Data Interchange (EDI). This system then replaced the traditional mailing and faxing of documents with a digital transfer of data from one desktop to another without human intervention. The financial progress of the company was positively associated with the form of leadership explored. The organization’s mission is to seal the gap between people and technology through the discovery of unique products. The company, founded in 1976 by Stan and Carolyn, demonstrates competitive features dependent on the leadership style. The number of employees estimates at 9,000 with a revenue of 237.3 billion in 2017 under the managerial leadership of Jason Chen as the CEO (Wang et al, 2017). Acer Inc. has an international market that requires management to uphold leadership skills based on ethical aspects and communication.
Demonstration of Outcomes
Business Opportunity
The identified business topic will therefore be overcoming the common pitfalls associated with growth, loss of investors and management of resources in the organization. The organization has an international market, which gives it an upper hand in the competitive space. Acer Inc. can invest in technology to facilitate the production of unique products that will solve future problems. The management should market the new product into the international space for increased sales and products. The new product’s invention must be collaborative based on ethical decision-making and communication skills among the organizational leaders (Hooker, 2008). The foremost business opportunity at Acer is the innovative potential using technology and the international market space. For instance, the company can produce PCs with features that compromise the effectiveness of the current versions.
Data Accessibility
The business opportunity can be analyzed using the SWOT analysis results calculated from the previous financial year. The data on the company’s market status will help identify the main technological problems affecting users in different countries. For instance, Acer Inc. has users in both developed and developing parts of the world that leaders must consider before the invention. The general data on competitive factors within the electronic industry will be considered to ensure that all technical aspects are involved. The new PC versions for desktops and laptops will consider all the aspects to solve future problems among users. SWOT analysis, competitive space, and user responses will be the primary source of data to implement the identified business opportunity (Hooker, 2008).
Leadership Abilities
The implementation of the identified business opportunity will require a high level of coordination from the management. The leaders must effectively communicate the intentions and plans to the team members. The communication channel used will include direct meetings and memos to update all the stakeholders. The leaders must make ethical decisions on the type of changes to make in the current PC version to accommodate all users. Acer Inc. has international customers, which calls for ethical decision making to avoid losing potential users (Wang et al, 2017). The leader will coordinate the marketing process based on the competitive ethical structures.
Conclusion
Some of the essential aspects that the leader will consider to explore successfully are constant communication, professional consultations, ethical decision making, and teamwork. The leader should also communicate all the changes to team members to avoid internal differences. The Acer Inc. management will consider the customer’s expectations and preferences from both the local and international markets. The leader must research on the competitive trend to manufacture a unique product for future profitability. The leadership skills applied in the project will significantly depend on the teachings derived from the MBA program.
