Parents are amongst the essential individuals within the lives of young children. Parents are responsible for the provision of primary care and support to the children. After birth, children learn and depend on parents, together with other caregivers undertaking parenting roles, to safeguard as well as care for them to uphold their general well-being. Being a parent is often a welcomed experience. However, parent’s lives may face a range of challenges and uncertainty about their capability to promote the socio-economic, physical, or emotional well-being of children (NASEM,2016). Thus, parents should always strive to uphold the overall growth of their children. In doing so, this will promote efficient child growth and development.
Parents should be guided by the expected family roles and dynamics while carrying out their parental duties. These roles and dynamics regulate the associations or relations among members of a particular family. Thus, parents ought to undertake the expected family roles to satisfy the child’s needs. In doing so, parents will promote efficient relations with members of the family. These roles also become determined by the relationships between parents. In this case, proper associations between parents help prevent grudges and quarrels, which may arise from both internal and external individuals. The responsibility of child care may not only rely on parental provisions but also on the community and state to instill values and norms to children. However, such childcare provisions may be influenced by environmental factors that are considered as external as opposed to those intrinsic to a child. Some of these environmental influences comprise; the social environment, which may promote social relationships, ties with extended family, and community resources, determining kinds of childcare provisions. The environmental factors usually determine changes in children’s behaviors.
Generally, effective family functioning entails the provision of various basics requirements encompassing; provision of resources, life skills development, support, and nurturance as well as the management and maintenance of the family system, among other functions. Thus, various challenges to the provision of proper parenting practices exist (NASEM, 2016). From the case study, the provisions of necessities by Kurt and Sammy became hindered by challenges faced by Freddy’s parents, which comprises; the lack of finance and poor relationship between them. These challenges experienced by Freddy’s parents gave rise to further difficulties that adversely impacted on their child’s growth. Children mainly may not only be taken care of by their carers but also require the support and guidance of parents. In this regard, by practicing good parenting, it will aid in upholding adequate child provision.
Progressively, adequate child care plays an essential role in the development of children and offers valued support towards young children. Thus, it is necessary to comprehend the impact of such services and ensure their accessibility and quality. Such high quality child care generates a positive effect on the development of children. Moreover, it is essential to create an environment of affection towards children to stimulate their positive emotions and feelings. These will assist in minimizing annoyance and distress conditions amongst children. Through such efficient physical environment for children will promote a learning environment and effective communication skills among children. These will ultimately promote proper growth and development among children. Thus, aid in building moral behaviour of children in future.
