Change Management Review
Objectives
Samson media started by appointing a new CEO, who was the former marketing director of a well-known successful media business. Samson’s media’s aims of doing so would be to help the company pull up from where it fell in terms of readership. Change management objectives for Samson Media include the following. Increasing its profit margin by 8% within two years, convert all magazines into digital form, close all its printing and distribution sites, relocate the head office to a smaller office to achieve cost-effectiveness, restructure office staff by having less permanent faculty and more contract staff.
Activities conducted
For changes to happen, there might have been various communication activities that occurred. Firstly, the management of the company must have gotten information that the main reason people were not reading their magazine was competition from their competitors. Moreover, the competitors used digital platforms to outsmart them. Secondly, they must have communicated with Mr. Amir Johnson to make him the CEO of the company. Thirdly, they must have taught about the objectives they had about the company and the features they wanted the new digital magazine to have. Finally, they must have had communication on what the latest digital magazine could have helped them achieve, which the hardcopy magazine was not giving them.
Recommendations
The change management plan and the communication and education plan are to be updated using the recommendations arising. They include: having free content available on a subscription basis in the magazine as an added incentive, having additional features in the magazine, examples being; video clips, podcasts, and discussions and finally focus on health, beauty, fashion and celebrity gossip in the magazine.
