Teenage pregnancy
Various factors may contribute to teenage pregnancy, such as the use of alcohol or drug abuse. Most of these teenagers hardly know anything about contraception and may indulge in sexual activity without putting any caution. Some of them may not have any plans for the future and, in most cases, want to experience and enjoy the present life. Low levels of education, may not have self-respect; they may be the victim of sex abuse or raped by someone, wrong friendship. Sometimes their parents do not give focus on their children and take care. Such a pupil may take advantage of the situations. Children from single parents’ families or have less interaction with their parents are also at high risk of adolescent conception.
Younger or teenage mothers and babies are high at risk of many complications related to delivery. This includes preeclampsia, iron deficiency anemia, preterm delivery, IUGR, birth weight of the baby is less than average. Their pelvis is not adequate open for the birth of the baby. This may lead to obstruction. These risks will increase the adolescent maternal mortality and infant mortality rate.
There are many research community and state resources that started to prevent teen pregnancy. South California campaign is there to prevent adolescent’s pregnancy. The city of Hartford, and New York-based health and mental care department. These are some partners of the state and research community. This will provide knowledge to the community about adolescent pregnancy and its consequences on health. Moreover, these programs enable funding to conduct such community-wide initiatives for families, parents, children in schools and colleges, etc.
In my state, the adolescent’s pregnancy rate is get decreased throughout these ten years. I think children are more educated than before. They know the complications of teen pregnancy. Moreover, they have enough knowledge of contraception. Above all, parents are taking care of their children and give more focus on them. These are the reasons why the ratio gets reduced in these years. Other than there are many community-based programs through colleges and schools to educate the children from a young age to know more about sex, contraception, and how it is related to health and their future.
