The role of doctoral study in the business
It was a pleasure to read your paper on the role that your doctoral study can play in the business environment. According to Saunders, Lewis, and Thornhill (2015), research must address practical business issues and managerial problems. You understand the significance of your research study and have listed different ways that businesses can benefit from your study. From these benefits, it is clear that your topic was well thought off. Unfortunately, you have not mentioned the topic of issue for your study, which makes it hard for people who are not familiar with your study to grasp the ideas in your paper fully.
The second part of your paper is a reflection of the most critical parts of the research process. I, however, felt that some of your ideas did not come out clearly. For instance, you mention that identifying a topic for you begins by gathering information on an issue that exists in the field already. It would have been better for you to clarify that you intend to address a research gap with your research project. Currently, your paper implies that you will present information gathered by others without adding anything new.
Moreover, even though you mention that identifying the research topic is one of the most important components of the research process, in your opinion, you don’t justify your statement. One way to justify would have been to explain why you think identifying a topic is important. Saunders et al. write that identifying the topic is vital as it sets direction and tone for the whole research project. Nevertheless, the section shows that you are knowledgeable about the research process and have interacted with the different components of the process.
