Discussion Board 8: Prevention and Treatment of Vector-Borne Disease
Malaria is a parasitic infection that is transmitted by an anopheles mosquito and causes an estimate of 400,000 deaths yearly as recorded by the WHO. The life cycle of malaria parasites involves two hosts; (1) malaria-infected female Anopheles mosquito inoculates sporozoites into the human hosts during a blood meal, and (2) when the liver cells get infected by sporozoites maturing to schizonts that later raptures and releases merozoites. Nevertheless, the possible measures for controlling malaria include clearing bushy environs, ponds (larviciding the environment), and individuals traveling to areas prone to malaria taking protective drugs before and after a trip, indoor residual spraying with long-lasting chemical insecticides, and using insecticidal nets. Nevertheless, the treatment of malaria can be attained by administering prescription drugs aimed at killing the parasites. Such forms of drugs and the length of treatment vary depending on age, the severity of symptoms, the type of malaria parasite, and whether the patient is expectant. The common anti-malarial drugs including but not limited to chloroquine phosphate, mefloquine, and primaquine phosphate and quinine sulfate. To reduce or limit morbidity/mortality rate, new antimalarial drugs should be developed since its treatment is in most cases marked by a continuous struggle between the already evolving drug resistance parasites and the search for new drug formulations.
Discussion Board 8: Managing Interpersonal Conflict
In a television show, Jake gets off the wrong foot with a new co-worker at the company. A few days later in the new job, the new member asks for help in responding to a client’s inquiry over an advert as the client is not acquainted with the necessary steps to take in airing their products. However, Jake refuses to assist the new co-worker since he is engaged on a tight schedule and he feels he shouldn’t be wasting time. Ever since tension emerges between the two workers and none of the workers willing to tone down. A task is assigned to the two with a third member being part of the team, however, the third person experiences difficulties engaging the workers as they are not responsive. In such scenarios, the third member should own it by walking down to the two members in conflict make them understand that in as much as they started in a wrong foot it shouldn’t jeopardize their career and also make them know he is sorry for what had transpired between the two, and have a conversation amongst them. In this manner, the co-workers will highly think of their team members to have demonstrated self-awareness and that by solving such a conflict both parties will be helping the company attain its goals.
Discussion Board 8: explore the quadratic formula.
For example consider; in this case, the largest common factor is 2 hence 2 becomes the GCF. Each term in the equation is then divided by the obtained GCF resulting in in this respect, the expression will be simplified by completing the division in every turn. Hence there lies no fraction in the final equation. The above trick will be important to the students as it will help them manage their time and ultimately aiming at higher scores in their exams. The following formula will be easy to implement as students won’t experience a challenge while handling the complex tasks as compared to the challenges experienced by clients in using the completing square method. In solving quadratic formula I have since adopted to use the following formula
