During the visit, I was able to tour classes, interact with the other students, and utilize the campus facilities. The visit was full of questions inquiring about the number of students that are attending the university and the average size of the classes, what meal do the students prefer the most, the setup for a distinctive dorm room, the types of groups, clubs and how someone can join, where can I park for classes and many others. Talking with student advisors, visiting the food court, and participating in the campus events enable me to immerse myself in the culture. Before visiting the university, I scheduled an appointment with a professor at the University of Hawaii at Manoa and when I came, he walked me through the goals of the university and answered the questions that I had (Folsom, Amanda, and Alex Kontorovich, 10).
After the visit, I realized that campus visitation is basically a way of sales and marketing of a college or university for potential students and it is serving as an influential subterfuge the effects the process of decision making by a student. When one is partaking a campus tour, he or she is essentially linking acquiescently with the culture, ecology, and climate of the college or university (Okerson, 4). Consequently, one can gauge and respond to campus esthetics and the community within. In connection to this, one’s linking to a particular environment will influence directly his or her reaction to the campus visit and tour experience and thus affects his or her attitude concerning the college or university choice. A correct choice of college or university will enable you to achieve your academic or career goals (Phipps, 4).
