Happy moments
Going out with friends and relatives for a drink or two is usually not a bad idea. You’ll be having a good time and enjoying yourself with your peers. However, do you know that alcohol is one of the reasons for your nasty breath? Alcohol not only leaves you with a hangover but eventually drys out your mouth hence encouraging the bacteria, which causes bad breath. Spicy foods and drinks with a high caffeine level also lead to bad breath and cigarettes.
Moreover, a dry mouth which doesn’t make much saliva while you sleep can also lead to bad morning breath. Therefore, ensure that your mouth doesn’t stay dry whenever you return to your bed in the evening.
An Ulcer
The ulcer itself cannot cause bad breath. However, there’s a bacteria that causes ulcers, known as Helicobacter pylori. According to recent studies, these bacteria can trigger bad breath, though indirectly.
According to Dr. Suzuki, from the Fukuoka Dental College, Japan, the Helicobacter pylori doesn’t directly cause bad breath but is connected to periodontal disease well-known cause of bad breath. Therefore, treating these bacteria can help stop the stink.
Heartburn
Your bad breath may also be a result of the symptoms of common digestive disorder, also known as gastroesophageal reflux(GED). It is the backward drift of undigested food or any other stomach contents such as stomach acids back into the esophagus. Therefore, this regurgitation of stomach substances causes heartburn and some nasty smell in your mouth.
Tonsil Stones
Tonsil stones can also cause bad breath. These small white bunches consisted of hardened bacteria, dead cells, food bits, and mucus get stuck in your tonsils’ wrinkles and behind your tongue. They don’t harm in any way except for the bad smell. The tonsil stones usually dislocate on their own. However, speeding up the process by gargling a lot of water is also a good idea.
Some Medications
Bad breath can also be caused by some medications you usually use. Saliva flow can be stifled by prescription and over -the -counter drugs such as allergy remedies and antidepressants. This fluid clears all the food and bacteria making you susceptible to bad breath.
However, change of medications is not a good option, and for this reason, the Dental Association recommends that you maintain being hydrated. Chewing sugarless gum is also being recommended to prevent your mouth from drying up.
Bottom Line
Bad breath is usually a horrible and disgusting experience. You may have asked yourself questions as to why you experience bad breath. There are many obvious reasons why this happens. However, the above mentioned are just a few unknown or somewhat surprising reasons why your mouth smells awful. If you can minimize or do away with these reasons, then the risks of experiencing bad breath will be limited.
