Several factors influence staff turnover in a hotel.one of them is the room occupancy rate. In our case, we find that when the room occupancy is high, the staff turnover is also high and decreases as the room occupancy goes down. Staff turnover can also be caused by unfavorable working conditions, for example overworking. When the hotel employees people who have no skills related to working in a hotel, they are likely to offer poor services and end up being fired leading to staff turnover. When the employees got a poor relation with managers or with the supervisor, they are likely to quit the jobs and also when they are not given a chance to air out their views. The performance indicators in this hotel include the total rooms sold. We find that in the nine-month of year one and the second month of year two, we had the highest total number of rooms sold but the other months the numbers have been declining which is an indicator of poor performance by the hotel. The number of conferences held in the hotel seems to be the same since year one up to now, meaning the hotel has not done anything to attract more clients to hold their conferences. Though the average room rates seem, to be increasing, the rate of increment is not that significant to say that the hotel is performing much better. The room occupancy is another performance indicator. We find that in the last two months of year two, the room occupancy has slightly improved though the rate was fluctuating in the previous months of year one. The indicators show the poor performance of the hotel and so some strategic actions like branding, improving market index, and also employing skilled laborers shall be enforced to improve the performance of the hotel. Staff turnover is not always negative, in fact for a good performing hotel it should be positive. This is not always the case because, in periods of a pandemic like we are experiencing globally, the staff turnover is negative.

Market image index and public image index are key factors that should lead to increasing the revenues earned by any business. The public image, though not a big sign, has led to the increment of the total rooms sold for the last two months of the second year. The hotel needs to put more effort to win a great market index to win customers’ loyalty and attract more occupants in the hotel. The hotel needs also to work hard to reduce the staff turnover rate which is very high currently. This rate could be a reason for failing to have a high market index and low public recognition and thus attracting fewer customers.so the hotel should work on reducing the staff turnover rate which may as a result improve its market index ranking and also the public will get more attracted to the hotel’s products and services.
