Product/service scope
For the case of Health Science north (HSN), as noted earlier, the project aims at enabling the facility to change their record-keeping practices from standard forms to electronic methods. The service/ product scope in project management is the set of features and characteristics of the final product or service targeted to be attained from the project (Pheng, 2018). In this case, this project’s a product/ service scope includes the following features; 20 computer stations installed with computers throughout the facility from the reception to the doctor’s examination room for the entry of patient information and recording of the relevant information. Computer servers are stationed in the facility to ensure that the computers are connected to a local area network within the facility to facilitate easier transfer and exchange of patient information between different staff members, for instance, from one doctor to the other. Network connectivity for the provision of network services within the facility. Requisite software such as windows and drivers should be installed into the computers in various stations to enable the staff members to interact with the installed hardware upgrade within the facility efficiently. Also, there is a need for fully trained employees with relevant knowledge on how to use the hardware installed for the patient information entry and storage.
Project scope
On the other hand, the project scope consists of the steps and the processes involved in the delivery and provision of product services (Sanghera, 2019). In the HSN hardware upgrade project, the main steps that are taken in the delivery of the products and services noted above include; the processes involved in getting the facility into a fully functioning electronic record-keeping center. One of the processes involves collaboration with various stakeholders and contractors as well as designers who facilitate the acquisition and procurement of all the physical parts identified in the service scope. Simultaneously, for the HSN hardware upgrade project, the provision of the project document to the managers and team members, as well as the budgeting processes, will be essential. Further indicating the needed timeframes and required periods when the procurement deliveries will be done is another process. The quality control process will ensure that the processes, products, and resources involved in the process of project actualization are of high quality. At the same time, proper communication will be ensured among the project stakeholders through emails, calls, and reports for efficiency in the overall project delivery. The required delivery and transportation will be done adequately and efficiently through the coordination of the suppliers and the project managers. Finally, the project closeout process will be carried out, which involves the finalization of the project activities. In this last process, all the managers and leaders at different levels will be required to provide reports of their performances, financial uses, and return the excess materials. Finally, the project manager will be required with the project crew and the project sponsor to sign the relevant documents regarding the completion of the project. Also, the reports will be compiled and stored for review or future references.
