The poem ‘The labor speaks’ has a strong message from the industrial workers to agitate for their rights. They strongly expressed their voice against the employees who were taking advantage of their service. They felt that their efforts were not appreciated directly by being given inadequate wages. They had a big cry that all the development depended on them and their salaries were due, and they ask, ‘What is Labor’s due’?

The voice of the poem refers to the cry and agitation of hardworking industrial workers whose service is taken advantage of. The voice states that they are tired of the submission and begging to their masters and vowed against submission. The industrial workers want their wages to be paid fully and in the time since they have done excellent and commendable work (Gowens, P., & Pottenger, K. (2018, September). The voice is also disgusted with a little pay or wages, and they refer to it as ‘meager pittance.’ The workers feel that they are the majority but is subdued by the minority, and they have risen to the task of equality, better and timely payment.

The characters of the poem ‘The Labor Speaks’ refers to the main person conveying the message to the audience.  They include the inventors, investors, architects, farmers, manual laborer’s, artisans, structural engineers, mechanics, and general industrial workers. The inventors are agitating for their pay for their critical service of idea generation. The artisans and architects are asking for their compensation for the construction of the skyscrapers and first house. Writers and publishers’ commands for their exceptional content they gathered to write great books for their employers. The engineers and manual laborers are demanding the increase and timely pay for their service of building bridges to create links.
