Persuasive Presentation and Memo: You have been recently hired as a marketing lead for a local Ottawa business. What suggestions would you make to the company to enhance its product or service offering and promote it effectively
INTRODUCTION
Attention Getter:
We are living in a period where isolation is necessary for our survival. Looking back over the past few months, the economy was flourishing and business doing well, which is not the case now (Fernandes, 2020). The situations have changed; thus, the business needs to establish new models for survival.
Background and Relevance to Audience:
The organization offers online shopping services to valued customers. This is the main business trend in this time of crisis. However, convenience is vital in the online market. This is undermined by the measures put to curb the pandemic. This leaves the organization with only one option; adapting better strategies.
Speaker Credibility:
As an expert in marketing, I have analyzed the current business trends in an attempt to evaluate our marketing strategy. I have identified an opportunity, which if not seized, competitors will use it to their advantage.
Thesis/Purpose:
An effective marketing strategy is crucial for survival in this period. This implies that the current model needs to be improved for more efficiency.
AGENDA: Preview of Main points:
- collaborating with delivery partners
- offering online cake workshops
BODY
Transition to the first main point: I will start by introducing my first agenda, collaborating with delivery partners.
Main Point 1: collaborating with delivery partners
- Product/service offering that needs enhancement: delivery services from stores to customers need to improve for convenience.
- Need step: online shopping and delivery are becoming popular among consumers. It prefers for its convenience and time-saving. To tap into this opportunity, we could invest in our delivery logistics. The most convenient way is collaborating with delivery partners.
- Promotion: the delivery partner will eliminate the time conflict problems with customers. Besides, consumers can choose from a wide variety of cakes on the website, which is then delivered to their doorsteps. This will enhance our sales and reputation.
Transition (signpost, review, preview): I will introduce the second agenda, offering online cake workshops.
Main Point 2: offering online cake workshops.
- Product/service offering that needs enhancement: during this lockdown period, most people will be indoors, which creates an opportunity for our organization to introduce new services.
- Need step: our team of chefs could be offering face to face instructions over online platforms. Most people have more home time, implying they prefer to make cakes at home rather than buying. While the pandemic has slowed down activities in the organization, the team of chefs could take advantage of the situation to offer online instruction. This is a new revenue generation channel as well as a marketing strategy.
- Promotion: the online classes will bridge the revenue gap created by slowed business activity as a result of the pandemic. It also offers a new platform to market our cakes and other services.
Transition and signal closing:
CONCLUSION
- Restate thesis: Our organization needs to adopt new marketing strategies for its survival during this period of a pandemic.
- Review main points: this can be achieved through collaboration with delivery partners, which will safeguard our access to consumers. Also, offering online cake workshops will generate more incomes alongside promoting the company’s products.
Residual Message: Call to action: In the business world change is inevitable. The way business adapts to changes distinguishes a business in a particular industry. During this pandemic period, only the business that adopts the best strategies will survive the challenge.
