Policy Protocol in Healthcare
A protocol is a medical guideline, which includes a set of instructions that shows the process to be followed to investigate the patient’s problem to reduce discomfort. In a clinical setting, a protocol includes the procedures which a clinician must follow to help in diagnosing and treating the patient.
A standard of care delivery is the process of extending the healthcare services to the patients based on the rules and regulations. It involves reasonably providing skilled healthcare services to the patients by qualified professional care providers to avert medical malpractices in the healthcare sector. Hence, the standard of care delivery involves the use of protocols to deliver healthcare services to people (Bein et al., 2016). The federal and state agencies have the responsibility of establishing guidelines for the healthcare industry. The state-level implements the guidelines of the federal standards at the state level while the federal level formulates policies that regulate the provision of healthcare services in the whole country.
Patients receive care from the healthcare providers as clients of the payers. Their primary concern in the healthcare sector is to receive quality healthcare services. Providers follow the protocols to deliver standard healthcare to the patients. Payers are responsible for the financial obligations of the patient. They enroll citizens and ensure that they cater for their medical requirements at times of need (Hendrix et al. 2016). They collaborate with care providers to ensure that their clients, the patients, receive the recommended healthcare services based on their engagement and contract policies. Policymakers gather relevant data from patients, payers, healthcare providers, and other stakeholders to help them to make socio-economic policies that regulate the provision of healthcare services in the country.
The perception of the patient is that healthcare providers should give them satisfying healthcare, while the providers’ perception is the patient’s safety. Payers’ perception is to process payments to enable patients to access care services as policymakers ensure that provision of services, planning, and managing of healthcare is made through the formulation of healthcare policies.
