Opioid Addiction in the Workplace
I agree that drug use in the workplace amongst adults is in the increase. The current drug policy is under the assumption that drug use has an impact on productivity and brings with its high cost. The continued drug use within the working environment results in accidents, especially among workers that operate machinery in an organization. Social withdrawal high observed amongst employees that rely on drugs to gain a sense of belonging. There is also less productivity amongst these employees, as many are unable to keep up with the daily operations of the organization. The implementation of drug-related programs will help sway employee concentration away from drug abuse. These alternative activities include yoga, meditation, exercise, massage, amongst others. The plan will help employees to develop interests for their job again, eliminate absenteeism, and increase productivity. The programs could also become readjusted to align with organizational goals. Thus, it’s paramount for any organization to check addiction habits taking place in the organization and to identify programs that will help address the same.
