Introduction
The giant Mississippi river is a big source for many. Being the largest drainage basin. A river that passes around 10 states, with its source being river Itasca. The Mississippi River drains more than half of the rivers in the United States. It is very to determine the size of the river. Many animated maps show that the Mississippi River is 2350 miles across the United States. The river has many tributaries and distributaries. With its major tributaries being, the Ohio and Missouri rivers, the Arkansas River is also one of the rivers that empty into the Mississippi River. These three rivers also have many rivers that empty into them. All of this translates to 1.24 million square miles. My greatest fear and question is when river Mississippi will run dry. This will bring major impacts to the Midwest states agriculture, which depends strongly on the river. The watershed plays a big role in the provision of 92% of the country’s agricultural imports.
